Operation Guerrero
on: April 29, 2005, 07:28:03 PM

I'm thinking of starting up a fan book for this mis-understood League military operation.? I want it to be a combination sourcebook and scenario pack.

I'm going to handle the content development, but I need people who can handle the graphics (I'll supply the artwork if you don't have the BattleTech CCG artwork available) and a layout person.

If you're interested in joining this project, please reply here.

"But sir, I can't even turn on a woman!  How in the hell do you expect me to pilot a 'Mech?"
— Last words of an aspiring Lyran social-general

"The [Free Worlds] League is an acquired taste, but one indicative of a refined gaming palate.  It requires subtlety and imagination to play as a Leaguer.  It's no shame on them that they are so few in number; rather, shame on us."

I'd be interested in helping out with this. Although I don't have any artistic skills, I am apparently considered by many members of the Battletech community to be a good writer, so I can write up battle reports, scenarios, etc.

Some of my other works:
Revolution! (Pt. 1)
Revolution! (Pt. 2)
Revolution! (Pt. 3)
Hail's Angels - Wayside V

So what would you like me to do to start with?

Look through FM: Federated Suns and FM: Lyran Alliance for the units that fought against the League in Operation Guerrero, and copy the text for me.

Then look through FM: Mercs and do the same for both mercs that fought for and against the League in that war.

I want as much starting info as possible.

I can use all the help I can get.  Just went over Bred for War last night, and guess who the guerillas on Zurich were?  The Dancing Joker himself!

Peace Through Moral and Numerical Superiority
In the year 3057, agents of the Free Worlds League discovered that Joshua Marik, the son and heir of the Captain-General, had died on the Federated Commonwealth capital world of New Avalon while undergoing treatment for leukemia and had been replaced by a double. The substitution, clearly a plot by Victor Steiner-Davion of the Federated Commonwealth to place a puppet in charge of the League, left Captain-General Thomas Marik little choice but to declare war on the perpetrators.
Unlike his predecessors, who dreamed of vast conquests, Thomas gave his forces a limited goal: the recovery of worlds lost in the Fourth Succession War. Aided by the Word of Blake's control over all Free Worlds HPG stations, the League military launched a devastating blitzkrieg attack on the Commonwealth's Terran corridor. At the same time, allied Capellan forces aided by League-employed mercenaries moved to liberate Capellan worlds lost to the Federated Commonwealth in the same war. This massive maneuver succeeded beyond the League's dearest hopes. The Lyran regions of the Federated Commonwealth seceded and formed the Lyran Alliance, while the targeted region of the Commonwealth collapsed into such anarchy that it quickly earned the nickname "Chaos March."

The Operation Guerrero sourcebook details the actions involving every line unit throughout the war. Wave maps and full regimental listings break down the maneuvering and battles fought by individual forces. Expansive information on over twenty war-torn worlds is also included.

(In case anyone is wondering, I have a new board set up to handle the development of the project.  This thread is to be used for volunteering only.)
